Birth Doula
HOW DO WE WORK TOGETHER?
PREGNANCY
During pregnancy you are able to reach me when you have questions. I encourage you to do the necessary preparations to meet your birth preferences. I attend one of your doctor appointments together with you, if I haven’t already met your doctor. I make a home visit that takes about an hour. In this visit, we talk about your birth preferences in detail. These are the natural methods you would like me to use, scents you like and don’t like, family members that will be present at the hospital.
We talk about your preferences about interventions and your preferences about your baby right after delivery. I remind you all of the techniques that you can practice until labor begins. You can show me your hospital bag and your baby’ s nursery and ask me questions about them.
LABOR AND BIRTH
“ If a woman doesn't look like a GODDESS in labor then someone isn't treating her right.”
— INA MAY GASKIN
AFTER BIRTH
I make a home visit within the first ten days after birth, to support you, go through your birth experience and inform you about breastfeeding, postpartum period and newborn care.

FAQ
When should we start working together?
We can start working together whenever you feel ready to work with a doula. This can even be the last week before delivery. (depending on my availability) If you have a chance to meet me in your earlier weeks, it will be very helpful for you to have a more peaceful period because you will be able to reach me any time you have questions in your mind.
My partner will be with me during the entire process, so do I still need a doula?
Yes you do! Partner support is very important and it is great that your partner will be there but doula support is way more different. Partners also need support as well. They may feel anxious, they may want to go have a cup of coffee and doula support provide them some space. I also guide them to help and support mothers in a more efficient way.
What if you are at another birth when my labor begins?
I limit the number of births I accept, which have close due dates. However, it is possible that these labors may overlap. In that case, I have my backup. I provide her everything she needs to know about you, and she will be supporting you in the same way.
I will have a c-section; do I still need support?
Yes, you do, especially if you prefer to have a mother baby friendly caesarean. If planned cesarean or emergency cesarean is necessary because of medical terms, all my duty and support remain the same. Breathing exercises and relaxations are very important in that case, and I provide you with this support during the operation as well. It helps to ease the process for you.
Should I attend a birth education before I work with you as my doula?
In order to be able to speak the same language with you, I only work with families who attend a birth education. Please write to me for further details. You can look at my birth education program from this page.
Can we meet at my home when the labor begins?
I prefer to meet at the hospital rather than to meet at home but if we are living close, I can accompany you on your way to the hospital.
