I work with families who are looking for birth education and English speaking doula to prepare their journey.
HOW I START TO WORK WITH FAMILIES
After I graduated, I started to work as a freelance graphic designer. Although I enjoyed my former profession, I always have the instinct to do something more inspiring and helpful for people especially for women. Meanwhile, I took many training and have done practices about my inner-self journey. I started meditating and breathing exercise on regular basis which dramatically changed my life. In the mean time, I got pregnant and started to prepare for birth. I learned about childbirth educations and participated in one with my husband. I was amazed after the education because I discovered that there was so much to practice, learn and remember.
I decided to have a natural birth. I decided my birth preferences, practiced breathings and relaxations to let go and gave birth with a team having a doctor, doula, midwife and a birth psychologist. Eventually, I didn’t have a natural birth. I had a mother-baby friendly c-section. I learned so much from my experience! I learned the power and importance of one-to-one support. I learned how things may turn out different but still can be amazing independent of your birthing type. I realized birth preparation is essential to fulfill your baby’s needs.
I learned that birth is an experience of body, mind, and soul, so I decided to share my experience, teach and support families in a holistic approach.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH EXPATS
AFTER BECOMING A BIRTH PROFESSIONAL
I continued my journey at Istanbul Birth Academy and worked as a doula, childbirth educator and postpartum doula. I had the chance to teach many expat families asking for education and support in English. I realized how overwhelming it could become for a family giving birth in a foreign country with a different spoken language. After almost three years there, I currently teach, work with and support families during pregnancy, birth and postpartum periods. I work individually, focused especially on supporting families in English. I still teach the classes in English at Istanbul Birth Academy.
MY PATH THROUGH BECOMING AN EDUCATOR AND A DOULA
To become a birth professional, I started my distant training at Childbirth International and I completed my training at Istanbul Birth Academy with an international accreditation to become a Childbirth Educator and a Doula. At the same time I completed a 3 year long (body-mind-soul) education at Trusthuman Academy to become an educator. I took many courses to improve my doula skills as well. I am a founder member of Turkey Doula Alliance, one of the three core-organisers of EDN (European Doula Network), a member of APPPAH (Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health) and Hand to Hand For Births Association.
